DENA: Games

Part of me just wants to point you in the direction of the new M.I.A. song, command you to pull the blinds down and dance until your feet come loose.  But this is a new music blog (supposedly) plugging new artists, and DENA can count themselves as relatively new, having emerged with ‘Boyfriend’ a few months back. ‘Games’ is like a more particular, well-refined version of its partner in tow, and that makes it just as danceable, just as much of a glorious returning effort as ‘Bad Girls’ is.

Hazy Mountains: You

I’m not sure if I’ve heard anything soar as far and as free as the guitars in ‘You’. The reality is one of guitar experimentation, placed right at the forefront of this genuine, frantic adrenaline rush.

Essáy: Old Times

With a borrowing nod to fellow soundcloud-head Thought TempoEssáy is peering his head out of the flurried world of commenting, “heart”-ing and connecting, and is fast becoming a producer that people are going to discover in record shops, not on the internet. A Distance & Lights EP, released earlier on in the year, highlighted the German producer’s craft, but ‘Old Times’ is the sweet and melting  next move, bringing to mind the precious truth that this man is upping his game.
