Words With: And So I Watch You From Afar

MFM loves this lot, so naturally it jumped at the chance to grab a quick interview with possibly the hottest property on the Northern Irish scene at the moment, And So I Watch You From Afar. They toured the UK as recently as last month, and Gareth fired over some questions about this a few weeks ago. Here’s how he got on with Tony Wright.
—
GO’M: How did your UK tour go, overall?
TW: Geographically? From nearly bottom to nearly top. HAHAHA. Sorry. In all seriousness though it was fantastic, easily our best yet, crowd response wise. Although it was rather fleeting.
—
GO’M: Was it different to any of the previous jaunts?
TW: Yeah as I said before it seemed very short, considering we’ve squeezed a month[‘]s worth in the past, so to downsize to just 5 days was streamlining in [e]ffect I guess. Still more fun than a hammer to the face though. And I do love a good hammer to the face.
—
GO’M: Which venue was your favourite?
TW: Aw now that would be telling (I do realise that is the purpose of an interview).
—
GO’M: What were the setlists like?
TW: We threw in a few curveballs from the album that we don’t normally play. It’s probably the last UK tour before the new album drops so we wanted to air a few tracks we felt should be out there.
—
GO’M: Was there much new material played?
TW: Aside from the new single nope. However if you refer to the answer above we played ‘Start a Band’ and ’Don[‘]t Waste Time Doing Things You Hate,’ which the crowds sang along to, which was lovely. Thank you crowds!
—
GO’M: Would you say the songs on the new single are a good indicator of where the band’s sound is headed?
TW: Aaaaaawwwwww now that would be telling again! Sorry couldn’t resist, the new album is something we’re immensely proud of and we really hope you guys love it as much as we do.
—
G’OM: Are you excited about the European tour?
TW: Always. I love getting back to Europe and I know the rest of the fellas feel the same. It’s a home away from home.
—
GO’M: What can your fans expect?
TW: Music, sweat and good times. Times ten.
—
GO’M: Finally, what would normally be on the ASIWYFA tour rider?
TW: Nothing scandalous I‘m afraid, wetwipes and wine is about as mental as it gets. Never combine the two though, NEVER. You have been warned, by someone who knows.
