Dog Bite: Prettiest Pills
No sooner have The Shins announced their return, with Real Estate following closely behind in the sleepyhead guitar-pop stakes, when a newer act with loftier ambitions arrives: Dog Bite. Following on from a mini-album released last year with Young Turks, ‘Prettiest Pills’ relies on old-school production techniques to help make the sweeping layers of guitar become more prominent. And each nonchalant breath that the vocalist takes settles perfectly within this entangling web of reverb-laden guitar hooks. Imagining a full album’s worth of songs of this ilk is a tantalising possibility.
