Free Music Friday Part 2: Our Lost Infantry

Yep. Remember them? Well, they’re back, and their new single is quite a different proposition to what’s gone before. Our Lost Infantry’s new single is quite an angular track: never settling, dipping in and out of different styles so quick that it’s hard to keep up.
Therein lies the bulk of the song’s appeal. Never afraid to keep things interesting in the song structure department, even despite their pop sensibilities, the group have so far presented three songs that, on casual listens, you wouldn’t be able to tell were by the same band.
‘We made this. No label, no agent, no producer.’ Created entirely off their own backs, ‘Parkin’ can immediately be identified as a low-budget recording, but this adds to the song’s charms - as does the head-turning chorus: ‘You lay in bed, touching yourself with the television on; everything is going wrong’. Cue a time signature change, naturally. The trick to listening to these guys is to expect the unexpected. Nothing is ever straightforward, and this kitchen-sink approach to songwriting has already marked them out as ones to watch. ‘Everything is going wrong’? As far as Our Lost Infantry are concerned, nothing could be further from the truth.
