Work Drugs: Blue Steel.
Tom Crystal and Ben Louisiana are Work Drugs. Their 2011 has been a year of prolific exposure, starting with a relatively low-key online album release and culminating in a first, proper full-length, Aurora Lies. ‘Blue Steel’ is indication of an entire album written under the influence of copious amounts of Chilean wine. And you can tell. Bright and gleaming, it merges full-on, poppy synths with shy vocals, declaring stuff like “I’m so damn broke, and the joke’s on me” - pop at its most candid and most cheesy.
