Youthfall: Secular Child
’Secular Child’ makes me feel like I’ve just stepped into some futuristic city. Sure, it’s pitted in outer space but the neighborhood’s still full of the usual stuff; familes putting their washing on the lines; kids playing out in the streets; cars being broken into. Youthfall (a pair of London twins) have an knack for thinking outside of the usual realms - on this occasion, they’ve merged long, kaleidoscopic guitar lines with some scattered, sickly synths and a retro drum pattern. As per usual, they’ve combined these unlikely elements to make something entirely fresh.
