Abe Vigoda have adjusted their co-ordinates. That much was evident in ‘Throwing Shade’, the lead single from forthcoming record ‘Crush’. Involved was electronic elements, minimalism - the content on ‘Skeleton’ felt like it was being seen from an alternative viewpoint.

’To Tears’ will reassure those concerned with the previous effort. It resembles the ‘Reviver’ EP that was out early last year, consisting of tightly-knit rhythm sections and a rapid pace, but taking a more subdued stance to the album that preceded it. 

But this is a slightly sub-par indication of ‘Crush’, an album that delves into synthetic soundscapes with incredible success. Its defining moments are those when the band truly step out of their comfort zone, ‘To Tears’ isn’t one of those.
