‘Hombre Lobo’ is everything I expected. 
It’s got a rich balance of the up-tempo, almost careless numbers with the most tear-jerking, isolation-centric anthems that I’ve heard for some time.
It’s quite the statement but I’d hold Eels down as the most consistent artist of the last decade. Each and every album may be strictly speaking, predictable, but each delivers its promise. 
‘The Longing’, the best track on the album by a long stretch, requires only 5/6 chords and E’s gruff voice. It’s so simple yet so beautiful.
